WORK EXPERIENCE:
CREATIVE DIRECTOR, BRONXTON, SANDY UT.
SEPT. 2021-CURRENT
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Collaborate with CEO in development of brand strategy, marketing strategy and content strategy based on business goals.
2) Lead and manage a team of artists and developers to create various forms of content that are used in every stage of our marketing funnel. I hold review sessions for photo selects where we discuss notes and ideas on how to improve based on brand identity and direction. I execute all video content but hold my work to the fire as well; Inviting feedback and suggestions from the team as a way to create conversation around the content we are making, and opening up dialogue about how we can innovate, improve our work and grow as a team. I hoped that this would help the team in their own leadership journeys, allowing opportunity to flex their feedback-giving-muscles and their ‘big picture’ thinking.
3) Develop and implement various marketing funnel strategies that span across all E-comm marketing channels such as, email campaign flows, organic social media content and strategy, Facebook/Instagram ads strategy, and website landing page development. I also work closely with our developer to design UI and UX additions to the website.
4) Spearhead the conceptualization and execution of all marketing campaigns. This requires establishing an idea and effectively communicating it with the team. During pre-production I plan shoot days, book locations, hire models, rent equipment, and curate references for mood and visual style. While on set I act as director, cinematographer, and camera operator, while guiding the photographer as we capture the necessary photos and video for various social, website and advertising applications that align with our campaign goals. In post production I oversee and guide different aspects of the photo select and editing process, while also contributing to the final creation of assets for launch. This includes editing both long and short form videos, creating email campaigns, determining social posting schedules and deadlines, creating ad assets for A/B testing, building landing pages, and leading a copywriter in the creation of captions and creative copy.
5) Built out the internal studio with up-to-date equipment and established internal workflows for the team using industry standard programs like Capture One, Figma, Microsoft Teams and Notion. Trained the team on said workflows, which included mentoring the photographer on best practices for studio lighting (flashes) and continuous lighting, developing an archival protocol as well as a system for asset organization, which allows us to review and finalize photo assets and efficiently collaborate with other teams such as the inventory, order fulfillment, and media upload teams.
6) I take pride in my people skills- I bridged a gap between internal teams that weren’t effectively working together, meeting, or communicating prior. While the effects are intangible and hard to quantify, I believe that my desire to develop a deep understanding and respect for everyone’s daily workloads and contributions, allowed for a more cohesive, empathetic, and collaborative work environment. This made cross-functional team meetings possible and productive, while also making one on one interactions fun and inspiring.
These skills overflowed into maintaining strong relationships with models, vendors, factories, shoot location owners.. essentially everyone that makes what we do as creatives possible. I like to say “I can do anything but I can’t do everything.” Relationships are the cornerstone of great creative work. I believe treating everyone with respect and kindness is imperative to success.
